The latest reports
indicate a total of 708 deaths and about $ 30.000 million
in property loss. The president stressed that
they are in a stage of rescuing people and delivering
basic commodities. The worst affected areas were the
regions of Maule and Bio Bío, which were declared
disaster areas. In the Bio-Bio region and Maule was
declared a “toque de queda”. The logistics
of food delivery is supported by armed force and Junaeb.
It reported the error by failing to warn about the
risk of Tsunami, by the direction of security and
marine operations. Constitution, Juan Fernandez Island,
Dichato and Arauco were among the worst affected areas.
The ports as Quinteros and Valparaiso are enabled,
San Antonio is under evaluation.
In a meeting with the Interior Minister Edmundo Perez
Yoma, whose aim was to report on what happened. He
stated that this was a major fact, with dramatic consequences.
There are still problems of connectivity, power distribution,
serious health problems due to lack of water in the
Maule and Bio Bío.
The biggest problem has been “saqueo”
in Concepción, Arauco, Chiguayante. He said
that going to be a long work and that
every hour that passes the problem is bigger than
before. They note that there is not secure time to
say when will the water in the worst affected areas
available. There are no fuel supply problems, rather
rely on electricity to get it.
The agricultural issue is going to treat it in two
or three days, consider that many of the people who
inhabit this part of country living from agriculture
and produce much of the food being distributed to
the rest of the country.
The general atmosphere of the situation in Chile
is the assessment and rescue by the government and
lack of protection in Concepcion, while Dichato fells
neglect. The rest of the country least affected, is
organizing aid. Armed forces declared to be in control
of the situation. Moreover, exactly happened during
the government transition transfer to Mr. Sebastian
Piñera who is driving at the moment, the plan
“ Levantemos Chile”.
In Santiago, people have recovered by 97% electric
power and have returned to work gradually. They assess
the structural damage to buildings and roads. International
Airport will open today.
